Professor Liu Wenfei Elected as Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Number of hits:On May 30, 2025 (Beijing Time), the Russian Academy of Sciences announced its new cohort of foreign members. Professor Liu Wenfei from the Russian Department of the School of Foreign Languages at our university was elected as a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), founded in 1724, is the highest academic institution and the largest scientific research entity in the Russian Federation. It is dedicated to research across various fields, including natural sciences, technology, humanities, and social sciences. This year’s list of foreign members includes 39 scholars from countries such as China, Azerbaijan, Hungary, the United States, and Italy, spanning 12 fundamental scientific disciplines.
Professor Liu Wenfei, a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at the Russian Department of Capital Normal University, holds the prestigious title of “Yanjing Chair Professor.” He is a recipient of numerous international accolades, including the Russian Order of Friendship, the Likhachev Academician Award, the “Read Russia” Translation Prize, the Lermontov Prize, and the Pushkin Medal. Recognized as one of the “Top Ten Outstanding Figures in China-Russia People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges,” Professor Liu has authored, translated, and edited over 70 books and published more than 200 academic papers and articles. He has organized over 100 domestic and international academic events on Russian literature, making significant contributions to Russian literary translation, research, and China-Russia cultural exchanges.
