2025-03-05
Number of hits:On the afternoon of March 3, Capital Normal University (CNU) convened the New Semester Science and Engineering Research Meeting and the inaugural Monthly Major Project Application Review Session in Conference Room 415 of the Main Building. Li Haitian, standing member of the Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in CNU and Vice President of CNU, chaired the meeting and delivered keynote remarks. Over 30 attendees included heads of science and engineering departments, the School of Management, School of Education, School of Primary Education, and School of Preschool Education, along with research secretaries, and staff from the Office of Science and Technology and the Technology Transfer Center. Centering on national strategic priorities, the meeting outlined scientific research tasks under the themes of “interdisciplinary collaboration, institutional innovation, and coordinated synergy” to inject new momentum into the university’s “Double First-Class” initiative.
During the panel discussion, representatives from 12 academic units, including the School of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Physics, provided detailed reports on their project applications. They not only identified practical challenges in research endeavors but also shared valuable success stories. The session also laid out key tasks for the new semester. Li Haitian emphasized that, against the backdrop of the “big science” era, the university must adhere to a dual-driven “top-down and ground-up” developmental model. This entails leveraging institutional strengths and discipline-specific characteristics to pursue groundbreaking research aligned with emerging interdisciplinary sciences, new engineering fields, and future education trends, while also driving the integration of academic achievements with national development needs to enhance the applicability and societal impact of research outcomes.
The meeting marked the launch of the new academic year’s scientific research efforts. With the monthly review mechanism now in regular operation, the university aims to accelerate the development of a “vertically integrated, horizontally collaborative” research ecosystem through systematic planning, refined management, and performance-driven execution, thereby delivering robust support for CNU’s high-quality development.
