On the morning of March 18, the opening ceremony of the first training program for universities in Southern Xinjiang, commissioned by the Department of Ethnic Education under the Ministry of Education and hosted by our university, was held at the Library Lecture Hall of the North First Campus. Attendees included Hu Wei, Vice Director of the Department of Ethnic Education; Yang Zhicheng, Party Secretary of the Beijing Youth Political College; Wang Luozhong, Vice President of Capital Normal University (CNU) and Standing Committee Member of the University Party Committee; as well as 50 administrative leaders from universities in the Southern Xinjiang region.

In his address, Wang Luozhong emphasized that CNU, as a national “Double First-Class” institution, has consistently upheld its teacher-training mission, strengthened its educational strengths, actively served national strategies, and deepened its engagement in educational support initiatives for Xinjiang. Since establishing Jingjiang College in 2012, the university has trained over 4,000 professionals for Xinjiang, with 98% hailing from Southern Xinjiang, earning accolades such as the “National Outstanding Collective in Poverty Alleviation.” Xu Xinjun, Deputy Party Secretary of Hotan University in Xinjiang and a participant representative, pledged that all trainees would approach the program with high political commitment, adhere to discipline, and apply their learning to practical work.

Hu Wei commended CNU’s significant contributions to Xinjiang’s development and thanked the university for organizing the training. The five-day program will feature expert lectures, group discussions, and field visits, focusing on topics such as university governance, Party-building and ideological-political education, and campus safety. It aims to establish a demonstrative platform for advancing higher education reform and collaboration in Southern Xinjiang.
