The School of Mathematical Sciences Successfully Held the Opening Ceremony of the 19th Mathematics Culture Festival

On the occasion of the sixth International Day of Mathematics, to promote mathematical culture, inspire exploration enthusiasm, and serve the cultivation of talent in the discipline, the 19th Mathematics Cultural Festival, themed "Mathematics Initiates Civilization, Intelligence Educates the Future," was inaugurated on March 14 at the Xiachen Square of the campus. Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chair Professor at Peking University, Tian Gang, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and delivered a report titled "Euler Number and Geometry." Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President Fang Fuquan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CNU Wang Daguang, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of the Beijing Science Center Party General Branch Huo Limin, relevant department heads of the school, and representatives of faculty and students from the college participated in the event. The opening ceremony was hosted by Gao Rong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mathematical Sciences.

At the opening ceremony, the attending leaders and guests jointly inaugurated the 19th Mathematics Cultural Festival. Huo Limin presented the flag to the volunteer service team for mathematics cultural popularization at CNU. The representative of the volunteer service team, Shi Jingjing, delivered a speech.

Zhang Zhenlei, Wang Daguan, and Tian Gang delivered speeches. Fang Fuquan made a concluding address. He stated that General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks during the national two sessions and the spirit of the national two sessions emphasize the need to leverage education's supporting role in science and technology and talent, and to implement the breakthrough plans for fundamental and interdisciplinary subjects effectively. Mathematics is the foundation of all sciences, and its importance is increasingly highlighted. On this special day of March 14th, through the organization of the Mathematics Culture Festival, we aim to further promote and popularize the significance of mathematics.
