Professor Liu Wenfei from the College of Foreign Languages of CNU Attended UNESCO Round Table in Commemoration of Dostoevsky’s 200th Birthda2021-11-10

  On October 4, UNESCO held a round table at its headquarters in Paris to commemorate Dostoyevsky’s 200th birthday. Twelve world-leading Dostoyevsky research experts from Russia, China, France and so on gathered together and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Kuznetsova of the Russian Federation to UNESCO made the opening speech.

  Liu Wenfei, professor from the College of Foreign Languages of CNU and president of China Russian Literature Research Society, was invited to the round table at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris as the only Chinese expert. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Liu Wenfei couldn’t attend the round table in person. He delivered a speech on the theme of the round table titled Dostoyevsky, Whole Man in Chinese Literature online. In his speech, Professor Liu Wenfei used “whole man” to describe Chinese people’s complete understanding of Dostoyevsky, interpreted Dostoyevsky’s diversified images for Chinese writers and readers, and explained the sharp turn in China’s researches on Dostoyevsky and Russia.

  After the commemoration organized by UNESCO, the Institute of World Literature of Russian Academy of Sciences sent a warm letter of thanks to Professor Liu Wenfei for his participation in the round table.
