CNU Students Made Good Performance in MCM/ICM Again2021-05-14

  The 2021 Mathematical Contest in Modeling and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) was held from February 4 to 8, which witnessed the participation of more than 26,000 teams. Under the guidance of Li Zhiwei, Liu Weihong, Shi Hongting and Wang Feng, 21 students of CNU participated in the contest as seven teams. After four days and nights of fierce competition, two teams won the Meritorious Winner, one team won the Honorable Mention and the other four teams won the Successful Participant. Participating papers and winning teams of CNU both set record high.

  Hosted by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Application (COMAP), MCM/ICM is a mass science and technology activity for college students around the world. It is an international competition program, which consists of the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) and the Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM). Its awards include Outstanding Winner (less than 1%), Finalist (1%), Meritorious Winner (7%), Honorable Mention (24%) and Successful Participant (64%). Established respectively in 1985 and 1999, these two competitions aim to motivate college students to study mathematics, improve their comprehensive ability to build mathematical models and solve practical problems with computer technology, and encourage them to actively participate in extracurricular science and technology activities, broaden their knowledge, and cultivate their cooperation spirit and innovation awareness.
