CNU Students Won 2021 Meritorious Winner in Mathematical Contest in Modeling2021-04-30

  The 2021 Mathematical Contest in Modeling and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) announced results several days ago. Fu Bowen from the Information Engineering College, Lou Shengqi from the Honours College and Liang Yilin from the School of Mathematical Sciences won the Meritorious Winner as a team, Hu Xinyue, Nan Yilan and Yang Xiaonan from the Information Engineering College won the Honorable Mention as a team, and Wang Mengya, Gong Zhikang and Li Jie from the Information Engineering College won the Successful Participant as a team.

  Hosted by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Application (COMAP), MCM/ICM is the only international mathematical contest in modeling and the most influential one in the world. MCM/ICM focuses on original researches and solutions, teamwork, communication and reasonable results. Its questions cover economy, management, environment, resources, ecology, medicine, safety and so on. This year, it witnesses the participation of more than 20,000 teams from colleges and universities in America, China, Canada, Britain, Australia and so on, including world-renowned ones such as Harvard University, Princeton University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University and Peking University. As for its award-winning data, less than 1% can win the Outstanding Winner; about 2%, the Finalist; about 7%, the Meritorious Winner; about 24%, the Honorable Mention; about 64%, the Successful Participant.

  In this contest, CNU’s students learn how to cooperate with each other sincerely while fearing no difficulties and challenges and demonstrate their solid capacities of mathematical application and scientific research. Their good performance proves that CNU’s exploration of the innovative talents training mode has yielded a good effect. They fully show the good image of CNU students, which facilitates the implementation of the Double First-Class Initiative in CNU
