  On November 27, 2018, Professor Fang Fuquan was elected a TWAS Fellow at the 28th TWAS General Meeting in Trieste, Italy. 46 new TWAS Fellows from 20 countries, including 14 from the Chinese Mainland, were selected into the membership.

  The Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) was founded on November 1983 by a distinguished group of scientists from the developing world. The TWAS Fellows are selected from the Third World Academy of Sciences, National Research Council, Universities, Institutes and Scientific organizations from developing countries. The selected Fellows should have a remarkable contribution to scientific research in the developing countries in their research field.

  Today, the TWAS has 1,221 elected Fellows from 104 countries from the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Geography, Biology, Agriculture, Medicine, Engineering, and Socioeconomy; 232 being from the Chinese Mainland.
