Professor Liao Qing and His Team from the Department of Chemistry Published Paper in Physical Review Letters2021-10-28

  Recently, Professor Liao Qing from the Department of Chemistry published his research paper titled Experimental Measurement of the Divergent Quantum Metric of an Exceptional Point online in Physical Review Letters, a famous international journal. He combined optical anisotropic organic microcrystal with Fabry-Perot (F-P) microcavity, constructed coupled photonic self-spinning eigenstate energy band and observed non-Hermitian exceptional point of energy band, proving the divergent quantum metric at exceptional point.

  Topological photonics has received extensive attention in the world and become an important frontier in photonics. This research for the first time experimentally confirms the topological theory about the divergent quantum metric at non-Hermitian exceptional point and provides an effective experimental platform and basis for the application of frontier theories in topological photonics based on quantum metric on photonic chip.

  CNU is the first signatory unit for this paper and Professor Liao Qing from CNU, Professor Li Feng from the Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Professor D. Solnyshkov from the Claremont University are corresponding authors. This research, completed by domestic and foreign teams, promotes the international cooperation of the Department of Chemistry. The project won the funding of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program, the Academy for Multidisciplinary Studies of CNU and the Multidisciplinary Discipline of the Graduate School of CNU.
