CNU Students Flew to Australia for 2016 “Happy Chinese New Year”2016-03-02

The art troupe consisting of 43 students from the CNU orchestra and the Department of Dancing of the College of Music flew to Australia for 2016 “Happy Chinese New Year” celebration, to represent the Beijing college student’s art troupe. The troupe conducted several tour shows in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, entertaining foreign friends and local Chinese with a few pieces of Chinese and western percussion music and ethnic dances with the theme of “Chasing Dreams and Exploring Origin”.


The troupe arrived in Canberra, the capital of Australia, on February 10. The cultural counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Australia met with the whole troupe. And the troupe performed brass and the dance of “Ode to the Lotus Flower”.


On February 12 (local time), the troupe had its first show in Canberra. The CNU Orchestra played over ten pieces of music, including “Song of the Yangtze River”, “Transformers” and “Frozen”. And the dancers performed several ethnic dances including “Rattan Wrapped Around the Tree”, “Gaguang” and “Chasing Dreams And Exploring Origin”. The next day, the troupe performed in the 2016 National Multicultural Festival at the London Ring Avenue. Its performance of “Ode to the Motherland” was received very well by the local Chinese as they lauded and applauded it heartily.  Besides, the troupe also conducted tour shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and interacted with the orchestra of the Scotch College.
