The 12th Session of National Congress of the Chinese Mathematical Society Held2015-12-01

From 21 to 24 November, the 12th Session of National Congress of the Chinese Mathematical Society—the Academic Conference for the 80th Anniversary was held. The conference was organized by the Chinese Mathematical Society and hosted by the CNU. Over 1000 attendees including representatives of national universities, scientific research institutions, media and press and teachers of secondary schools were present at the conference.

 

On November 21, Wang Shicheng, academician and Chairman of the Chinese Mathematical Society, Yang Le, academician and former Chairman of the Chinese Mathematical Society, Zhang Gongqing, academician, Wen Lan, academician, Professor Shigefumi Mori, President of the International Mathematical Union, Professor Helge Holden, Secretary of the International Mathematical Union, Shang Yong, the Party Secretary of China Association for Science and Technology, Zheng E, the Party Secretary of CNU, and Gong Huili, the President hosted the inauguration ceremony.

 

Zheng E welcomed all attendees and introduced the historical development and current situation of the CNU. She expressed gratitude for the support of the scholars and experts of Mathematics, discipline of Mathematics at the CNU and acknowledged their achievement. The CNU would further encourage the development of Mathematics and improve the quality of training of mathematical talents.

 

After the inauguration ceremony, there were awarding ceremonies for “Hua Luogeng Prize in Mathematics”, “Chen Shengshen Prize in Mathematics” and “ZhongJiaqing Prize in Mathematics”. The “Hua Luogeng Prize in Mathematics” is designed for those mathematicians who have made great academic achievements and contributions to the society and the distinguished Professor of CNU and academician, Lin Qun was awarded with the prize.
