The 2015 Academic Forum of Globalization and Contemporary Chinese Cultural Development Held2015-12-07

On December 6, the 2015 Academic Forum of Globalization and Contemporary Chinese Cultural Development was held at the CNU. The forum was jointly organized by the Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, the Human Development Center of China Society of Historical Materialism and the CNU. It was hosted by the CNU Research Center of Globalization and Culture and the College of Political Science and Law. The theme of the forum was Chinese values and contemporary Chinese cultural development in the backdrop of globalization. 

 

The Deputy Party Secretary, Xu Zhihong and the Deputy Inspector and the Deputy Secretary of Beijing Federation of Social Science Circles, Wang Yanjing attended the forum. Over 80 attendees including representatives of scientific research institutions and universities, and CNU teachers and students were present.

 

The forum focused on the development of Chinese values and the fostering of core socialist values based on globalization. There were six topics: the theoretical basis of the development of Chinese values—the application of Marxism in China; the influence of Western values on Chinese values—the effects, tensions and cultural perspective; fostering modern civilization with traditional cultural values; core values—innovative development of traditional cultures; the cultural development and value fostering of Chinese systems under globalization; the core issue of contemporary development of Chinese cultures—the relationship between mutual values and Chinese values. These topics answered questions about the domestic and international significance of re-cultivating Chinese values with the background of globalization. Attendees also discussed issues such as how to put the development of Chinese values into practice and possible paths of re-cultivating Chinese values, clarified the cultural gene and spiritual pursuit of core socialist values, answering theoretical questions and confusions raised by attendees.
