The 5th Academic Discussion of Chinese Feminine Culture & International Chinese Feminine Literature Forum was Held at CNU2015-06-30

On June 27, the 5th Academic Discussion on Chinese Feminine Culture & International Chinese Feminine Literature Forum was held at CNU. This forum was jointly hosted by CNU’s Chinese Feminine Culture Research Center, Chinese Feminine Culture Research Base, and Feminine Culture Committee of China World Association for Chinese Literatures. The event was attended by Party Secretary Zheng E and President Gong Huili, who also chaired the forum. Experts and scholars from 35 universities at home and abroad and 15 feminine research institutions and magazines were present at the meeting.


Party Secretary Zheng E spoke at the event and presented a Letter of Honorary Professor to Peggy Mackintosh, Deputy Director of Wellesley Women Research Center. Relevant leaders offered congratulations. 


The discussion was centered on the canonization and straddling writing of feminine literature. And the following issues were addressed: how to regard gender, culture, canonization and straddling writing in the era of localization of language globalization; how to break through the layout modern and contemporary, at home and abroad, ancient and contemporary, east and west; how to integrated women’s individual consciousness and gender consciousness; and how to prompt the development of gender critic theory and practice. Academic reports on relevant themes were delivered by participants.


The meeting was centered on the two topics: ”Issues of Canonization of Feminine Literature” and “Gender Vision and Straddling Writing”. Speeches were made by some participating experts. Mr. Yang Kuanghan from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences made three suggestions in the research of feminine literature: First, individual differences should be respected in the big picture of era ideology in the research of feminine literature; Secondly, feminine literature research should be enacted from the historical angle of overall development by breaking through the existing layout modern and classic, at home and abroad; Thirdly and lastly, efforts should be made to create a literature world where both genders are equal.
