College of Foreign Languages’ students finish third in the 20th “FLTRP CUP”2017-06-07

    The 20th "FLTRP CUP" National English Debating Competition for English Majors from Chinese colleges and universities which is conducted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Secretariat of the National Association of Students and the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) was held at the China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) on May 25, 2017. Xu Wangting and Zhaojing from the College of Foreign Languages rose to the third place in the national finals after winning the special award in the finals of North China and set a record for the university in a competition of this kind.

    In the 12 rounds of the contest, participants engaged in heated debates on topics such as judicial fairness, religious reforms, geopolitics, anti-terrorism war, education reforms, gender equality, economic policies and refugee crisis. The CNU debating team stepped into the elimination series in the tour competition with excellent skills and outstanding expressions. In the knockout stage, they were in the fiercest combat of words which led them victorious to the quarter-finals. They edged it out in the Grand Finale and landed in the third position.
